Earl Scruggs Tribute; John McCutcheon. 4/9/12 & 4/12/12

This week's show has two focal points.

First, thanks to Bruce Stockwell of Hot Mustard, Frank Shaw of ShoreGrass, and Scott Anderson of the Scott & Amanda Anderson Band for their help with our tribute to Earl Scruggs. I thought it made a lot more sense to have banjo players talk about Earl than for me to pontificate. You'll enjoy their comments throughout the show. I've listed them in the playlist below.

Second, John McCutcheon spent a lot of time visiting with us. He'll be appearing at Fire in the Kitchen in Madison, CT on Saturday the 14th.

I was concerned that having these two points of focus might make for a disjointed show. But one previewer commented that Earl's willingness to innovate and try different things fits right in with the points John makes about all this music being one big "stew," mixing together lots of different influences and styles.
