Black Diamond Show: Labor Day Playlist 9/5/11 WNHU

Good to be back on the air.  The 2nd half hour featured a lot of the artists I saw last weekend at the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival. But tracks snuck in at other times too..... For example, it was fun to play a track from the Stairwell Sisters right next to a track from an old LP the Green Grass Cloggers put out in 1986--Evie, the banjoist for the Sisters, said that if I look closely at the cover from that old LP, I'd see her as a little girl at that show! I love that old-time dance music!

On another note, effective this week, I'll start reporting our music to a newer bluegrass charting project, one based on actual airplay. It will be launching soon at http://www.bluegrasstoday.com -- I'm excited about this project -- I much prefer a charting project based on airplay than one in which I try to guess what the show's audience likes!
