Black Diamond Show Playlist for 10/18/10 WNHU 88.7 FM, West Haven, CT www.wnhu.net

Today's show includes a lot of new material. We played tracks from new CDs from the Steeldrivers (2010), Wayne Hancock (2009), Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen (2010), Charlie Louvin (coming out 11/9/10 on True North Records), Red Molly (2010) and founding member Carolann Solebello (2009), Infamous String Dusters (2010), John Hartford String Band (2010), and the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band (2010). We also played a track from the CD that came out this year that features over a dozen Dobro players paying tribute to Tut Taylor.

Thanks to the folks at True North for sending us the Charlie Louvin CD; my credit card hopes you enjoy the rest of the new music!

One request for you, listeners. I've been trusting in your own Google Fu to look up any song or band I list on the playlist. In this day and age of digital downloads from amazon.com, iTunes, CD Baby, and other legal sites--to say nothing of the number of YouTube and MySpace pages that have information on music and artists, I've not been listing "album" titles and "labels." To be honest about it, the "label" is hard for me to track down since I've been digitizing my CDs & LPs. Please let me know whether the simple song/artist listings are sufficient for you. Thanks.

  1. Aha. Looking around at folkradio.org has made me think that I should try to include more info on my playlists. There are databases out there that other DJs consult. So, if I include more info, the artists whose songs I play end up getting a little further "boost" in the folk/bluegrass radio community.
